Computers & Education (CAE) 저널에 투고된 manuscript에 대해서 제가 작성하였던 reviewer’s comment입니다.
이 논문에서는 일본과 미국과의 지역/문화적 차이가 Youtube의 교육을 목적으로 하는 수용(acceptance)에 미치는 영향이 논의되었습니다. 그런데 이 논문에서 사용한 방법론과 conceptual model, theoretical framework, 그리고 논의가 된 국가 들은 이미 다른 이전의 연구논문에서 연구가 진행되었습니다.
기존의 연구와는 차별성을 볼 수가 없었습니다. Journal editor의 final decision은 completely reject이었습니다.

In the manuscript, the author(s) tried to study Youtube acceptance within the framework of UTAUT model. The regional and cultural differences in Japan and the USA were highlighted to explain the nature of intention to use YouTube for educational purpose.

Unfortunately, the nations the author(s) studied in the manuscript were already visited by one previous study (Straub, 2007) with UTAUT model.

The contribution is marginal at best. I guess the author(s) should study with a richer analysis scheme such as i) SEM with moderators or mediators or ii) innovative constructs such as class-room sharing etc.

I recommend “reject and resubmit” with richer data analysis, better explanations and more insights.
