본인의 연구주제나 연구범위, 혹은 사용한 연구방법론과 궁합이 맞지 않는 저널에 투고를 하는 것은 오랫동안 연구를 한 경험이 많은 연구자들도 흔히 겪는 실수 중의 하나입니다.
본인의 연구논문을 받아줄 (혹은, 최소한 reviewing process 단계로 진입할 수 있는) 저널을 선택한다는 것은, 연구 초년생에게는 쉽지 않은 일입니다.
자기 자신의 연구에 맞는 저널을 선택할 때 고려할 만한 가장 중요한 점은, 해당 저널이 본인의 논문과 비슷한 논문을 출판했는지를 탐색하는 것입니다. 다르게 표현한다면, 다른 사람들이 쓴 논문을 많이 읽어보는 수 밖에는 도리가 없습니다.
또 한 가지 언급해야 할 점이 있습니다.
Reject의 사유가 투고한 논문의 주제와 저널이 추구하는 scope가 서로 맞지 않기 때문인 경우도 있지만, scope는 일치하나 전체적인 논문의 quality가 부족해서 reject의 우회적인 표현일 수도 있습니다.
Out of scope 판정을 받아서 reject를 당하는 경우에는 다른 저널에 투고를 하시는 것이 현명한 방법입니다.
